With the rising cost of fuel, not to mention reducing your carbon footprint, the issue of energy efficiency is an important factor to consider when improving your property. All of our windows have very good thermal insulation properties which can help reduce heating bills. By retaining heat for longer within your property, heating times can be cut - reducing your carbon emissions by burning less fuel.

REHAU window systems are unrivalled in quality, technological innovation and exceptional design – bringing you all the benefits of modern uPVC doors and windows, not only low maintenance, enhanced security but also superior energy efficiency.

The amount of heat that is lost through your window is measured by it’s U Value. The lower the value the better. Typical U values for older, wooden, single glazed windows can be as high as 5 or 6 W/m2K. Even PVC windows with double glazing that are 10 years old can have U values of 3 W/m2K.

Chosen View windows have a maximum U value of 1.6 W/m2K  as standard - over a 40% improvement on some of the older double glazed windows already installed.

Additionally, we can offer upgrades to improve this further - double glazing as low as 1.3 W/m2K and with our new range of Triple Glazing we can now offer windows with U values as low as 0.8 W/m2K - currently the lowest specified U value in the UK as required for the the “Passivehaus” window.

Window Energy Ratings (WER) is a means of showing how energy efficient your window is by providing information on the amount of heat loss, solar heat gain and air loss your window provides and is shown by an energy rating label, similar to those seen on fridges and washing machines. This label will provide a rating on a scale of A-G to show the windows' performance with an 'A' grade being the best.

All of our windows can achieve an A rating with the appropriate glass.

It is, however, important to understand how the energy rating has been achieved. Certain windows on the market achieve A ratings by having large amounts of solar heat gain - not always the most suitable choice - especially for windows that are subjected to large amounts of sunlight.

Chosen View can advise on the best window for your home to give you the optimum in energy efficiency.

Window Energy Ratings show the performance of the window by displaying the Energy Rating Rainbow logo with a rating from A - G. Minimum requirements for Building Regulations are C ratings. Chosen View can offer you a full range of Energy Efficient windows to the highest level - A rating.
